Why Work with Me
I am an experienced dual qualified lawyer – linguist specialising in legal and business French interpreting and translation. The majority of legal language professionals do not have a legal background. I am a Fellow of both the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) and the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and hold Chartered Linguist (Interpreter) status. I am also a member of Association of Interpreters and Translators (AIT), Association of Translation Companies (ATC), North West Translators Network (NWTN) and York Translators and Interpreters Group (YTI) and I sit on the CIOL Interpreting Division Steering Group Committee. I am also a mentor, lecturer and freelance business consultant.
Background/Experience
23 years with my niche market company Avocate Legal and Business French Services Ltd (located in Manchester, UK) and before that I worked as a solicitor in the UK in both private practice and local government.

Skills and Expertise
Expertise in UK and French legal terminology and procedure. I also have expertise in the area of professional regulation – I currently sit on the CIOL Professional Conduct Committee and I am an ad hoc chair of the National Registers of Professionals Working With Deaf and Deaf Blind Persons (NRCPD) Professional Conduct panel.
Achievements or Notable Projects
Setting up my company Avocate and developing it into a very successful and respected business. Sharing my business and language skills with colleagues via articles in professional journals, webinars and on site lectures both in the UK and in Europe.
Future Goals or Aspirations
To continue to add new streams of income to my company; for example I am currently developing legal and business English courses for lawyers and business people.
